On 16th August, we had the privilege of distributing the De Mazenod Scholarships for 2026. This year, scholarships were awarded to 40 university students from different parts of Sri Lanka, including 15 new students.

The occasion was graced by Rev. Fr. Roshan Silva OMI, Provincial Superior, together with Fr. Eugene Benedict OMI, Fr. James Brobst OMI, Fr. Anton Gracian OMI, Fr. Andrias Fernando OMI, Fr. Mark Sanjaya OMI, Fr. Ruwan Prasanna OMI, and Bro. Sumith OMI.

Our Guest Speaker, Miss Himalee Kularatna, shared an inspiring and encouraging message with the university students, reminding them of their potential, encouraging them to persevere through challenges, and giving them the confidence to believe in their dreams.

A particularly special moment of the celebration was the felicitation of Rev. Fr. Denis Iddamalgoda OMI, the founder of the De Mazenod Scholarship Programme, as we also celebrated his Golden Jubilee of priesthood. We gratefully honoured his vision and commitment to supporting young people in need.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the previous Scholarship Committee, especially Fr. Clement Waidyasekara OMI and Fr. Justin Silva OMI, and to all the other priests and members who have faithfully contributed to this mission over the years. Thank you for continuing this beautiful legacy and keeping the dream alive.

Together, let us continue to support these young men and women, give them hope, and help them build a better future for themselves, their families and our country.
