A Journey of Faith and Mission: Reflecting on the Province’s Journey from 2020 to 2026

October 20, 2026

COLOMBO, SRI LANKA — The Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) Colombo Province is delighted to present a special commemorative documentary reflecting on the remarkable milestones, spiritual growth, and missionary endeavors undertaken from 2020 to 2026.

Over the past six years, under the visionary leadership and guidance of the Provincial Superior, Very Rev. Fr. Roshan Silva, OMI, the Province has remained steadfast in its commitment to the charism of our Founder, St. Eugene de Mazenod. This era has been a profound testament to our core mission: to preach the Gospel to the poor and the most abandoned.

This video encapsulates a period of dynamic growth, congregational development, and unwavering service. As a Province, we have journeyed together through challenging times, emerging stronger and more united in our mission.

Key Highlights of Our Journey (2020 – 2026):

  • Expanding the Mission Boundaries: We reached out to new frontiers by extending the Oblate mission to the Diocese of Batticaloa, while also sending young Oblates to serve in international delegations in Japan and Bangladesh.
  • Educational Advancements: Significant strides were made in education with the establishment and continuous expansion of Mazenod College in Anuradhapura. Furthermore, the Oblate Institute of Higher Learning (OIHL) was successfully relocated to its permanent establishment.
  • Option for the Poor: Guided by our charism, the Province successfully completed over 540 homes through the “Houses for the Poor” project and actively engaged in nationwide disaster relief efforts.
  • Fostering a Global Brotherhood: Our formation houses experienced a beautiful cultural integration, welcoming international formandees from Vietnam, Kenya, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. We were also blessed by the pastoral visits of the Vicar General and the Treasurer General of the Congregation.
  • Empowering the Next Generation: Through the La. Kri. Vi. Movement and the De Mazenod Scholarships for university students, we continued our deep commitment to youth and children.
  • Historic Jubilees: We joyfully celebrated the 175th Jubilee of the Oblate Presence in Sri Lanka and the Bicentennial Jubilee of the Papal Approbation of the OMI Constitutions and Rules.

A Word of Gratitude As we close this fruitful chapter, the administration, Oblate Fathers, and Brothers of the Colombo Province extend their deepest gratitude to all our generous benefactors, local and international donors, lay associates (MAMI), and well-wishers. Your unwavering prayers, financial support, and sacrifices have turned these visions into tangible realities.

We invite you to watch the video below to witness this incredible journey of faith, hope, and mission. May God bless you abundantly, and may Mary Immaculate continue to intercede for us all.

Praised be Jesus Christ, and Mary Immaculate!
