GAMPAHA – In celebration of the sacred Poson Poya Day—the historic occasion marking the arrival of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahant Mahinda Thero—the Senior Prefects of Holy Cross College, Gampaha, organized an Ice Cream Dansala (charity food stall) for the very first time.
This meritorious act was conducted with the active and enthusiastic participation of the entire student body, reflecting the school’s deep commitment to service and communal harmony.
A Blessing of Unity
The Dansala commenced following a special prayer service and blessings invoked by Rev. Fr. Subash Fernando, OMI, who serves as the school’s Chaplain. The event was graced by the presence of the reverend sisters, who joined in the proceedings to offer their prayers and encouragement.
A Collective Effort
This successful community outreach was made possible through the generous support and dedication of the entire Holy Cross family. The school administration extends its heartfelt gratitude to:
- The Principal, for her vision and guidance.
- The Reverend Sisters, for their constant support and prayers.
- The dedicated academic staff, for their mentorship.
- The students and parents, whose contributions and hard work turned this vision into a reality.
Holy Cross College, Gampaha, is one of the institutions where the OMI School Chaplaincy ministry actively operates, fostering spiritual growth and values-based education for students. Initiatives like this Dansala serve as a testament to the school’s mission to cultivate not only academic excellence but also the virtues of generosity and kindness toward all members of society.
