As the Islamic world was celebrating the Birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) Milad-un-Nabi, the students of ‘Children of Co-existence’ gathered at Mahawellamulla Muslim Vidyalaya, Wellawaya on 26th Aug. 2026, to celebrate the same with their Muslim friends.

‘Children of Co-existence’ is a children’s movement started by Fr. Eric Lakman OMI, Director of Suba Seth Gedara (House of Dialogue), Buttala, Sri Lanka, with the aim of bringing together the children of different faiths for better understanding of interfaith dimension of Sri Lankan society and bridge building between different faith communities.

62 children with their animators / teachers from Islamic, Hindu and Christian communities gathered to learn, to do group activities and to play.
