MAZENOD ENGLISH INSTITUTE

The Mazenod English Institute (M.E.I.) in Katuwapitiya is located in the ancestral home of the late Fr. Tissa Balasuriya, OMI. He generously donated the property to the Oblates, and it was later transformed into a house of studies by its founding director, Rev. Fr. Dennis Iddamalgoda.
Today, the institute conducts residential English courses, catering to the vital educational needs of adolescents and youth following their Ordinary (O/Level) and Advanced (A/Level) examinations. While English language proficiency is the primary academic focus, M.E.I. also provides a holistic environment that instills basic human values and promotes integral personal growth.
Administration and Admissions
Currently, the institute is administered by two Oblate fathers, with four Oblates serving on the tutorial staff.
M.E.I. has the capacity to accommodate a maximum of one hundred residential students at a time. Due to its excellent reputation and rising demand, enrollment for each intake often reaches capacity quickly. As a result, the institute strictly follows a "first-come, first-served" admissions policy.

Looking to the Future
Given the steadily growing demand for its programs, the institute is open to exploring future expansions. This includes the possibility of conducting English classes for adults and introducing IELTS preparation courses for students and professionals aspiring to study or work abroad.
